« The use of glass draws inspiration from the ancient Venetian glassblowing technique, “murrini”. Each of the glass threads used in the work is individually pulled by hand from a furnace. The glass is placed in a sequential structure and poured into concrete or precious metal to create a single piece. »

• Harry Morgan •

Since graduating from Edinburgh College of Art in 2014, Morgan has exhibited widely throughout the United Kingdom and internationally including in Czech Republic, Spain, Sweden, Denmark, Dubai and the United States.

He has won several awards including the Award for Emerging Talent at the 2015 British Glass Biennale.
During last years, Harry Morgan was the English representative for the European Glass Context in Borholm in Denmark and for the Mons European Prize for Applied Arts in Belgium.

Harry Morgan is famous for his unusual use of materials and his experimental approach of traditional crafts. He uses techniques and history from the past like the Venetian glassblowing process and the Brutalism architecture. Concrete and glass are made with the same elements but they seems to conflicting in Harry Morgan’s works. Glass reflects ambiguity and intangibility. In contrast with it, concrete is brutally physical.

Harry Morgan is an emerging contemporary artist and a prodigy of our time : he is one of the most encouraging artist of his generation, a person to follow without contest. As a proof, his work is held in permanent collections of the Victoria & Albert Museum in London and of the European Museum of Modern Glass in Coburg, Germany.

Harry Morgan was a contestant for the prestigious Loewe Craft Prize in 2019. Created in 2017 by the Loewe Foundation, this prize has one aim : support international artists with a reflection around the contemporary craft.
27 June 2019 : the verdict has been in. The Loewe Craft Prize’s jury gave to Harry Morgan the Special Mention tanks to his monolithic sculpture. This is a real consecration for a young artist and this award confirms his rising place into the today contemporary art landscape.
